The Lodge

"A taste of wild Africa"

Metsi Lodge offers a wonderful atmosphere of relaxation and comfort and staying here, one does truly "feel at home in the bush." With the lodge folding doors opening onto an expansive deck overlooking our dam, one is always on nature's doorstep.

Metsi Lodge
Exclusive use
The entire lodge is unobtrusively fenced to encourage the ever present wildlife to remain at a comfortable distance. Metsi Lodge provides enough space and intimacy to be at home whether sipping something cool at the pool, reading a book, or perched on the deck scouting for our hippos and other wildlife at our dam.
En-suite chalets
The five large bedrooms are divided into a three bedroom and a two bedroom house. These connect to the main lodge via a raised walkway. Each bedroom has a bathroom en-suite, with four having an outside shower for the ultimate natural experience!

The bedrooms within each house have inter-leading passages, perfect for checking up on little ones if needed. All rooms gaze out on to our dam keeping you attuned to the buzz of life outside.

Tea/coffee facilities are available in each bedroom. Crackling bedroom fireplaces are the perfect end to winter nights in the bush. The five bedrooms sleep a maximum of 10 guests.
Self Catering
We do all the cooking
This is definitely self-catering with a difference. Although guests are responsible for taking all their food and beverages with them to the lodge all meals are prepared for you by our resident cook. You decide together with the cook what is planned for each meal, what time it suits you to eat and whether you would prefer to eat inside the lodge or alternatively outside on the deck.
Relax in luxury
The lodge includes the following facilities: Viewing deck overlooking the private dam, Swimming Pool, Lounge with fireplace and separate dining area, Private Game Vehicle and All linen, bath towels and soaps are included.

Although the lodge is fenced and during the day you can walk unaccompanied between your chalet and the main lodge, we do recommend that guests after sunset request a member of staff to escort you to and from your chalets. Families must be vigilant at all times.

Welgevonden Game Reserve
Majestic Big 5 game viewing

Rolling wooded mountains cut by deep rocky ravines and majestic gorges make Welgevonden Game Reserve an evocative piece of Africa. Aptly meaning ‘well found’, this is a place of rare and rugged beauty, plentiful wildlife and prolific birdlife. Spectacular scenery and excellent game viewing make Welgevonden quite unlike anywhere else on earth. To visit here is to experience the spirit of true wilderness.

A pleasant 2.5-hour drive or an easy 45-minute flight from Johannesburg into one of the airstrips, makes Welgevonden one of the most accessible premier malaria free wilderness reserves in the country. Welgevonden Game Reserve, (Dutch for "well found"), is a 34,850 ha game reserve in the Waterberg District, of the Limpopo Province of South Africa.
